Labor Law Posting Changes in July/August 2018

To stay in compliance with theses recent changes, all businesses in these states with at least one employee on payroll must display theses updated postings in their locations. This post will be updated as additional changes are made to the months of July and August 2018.


Arizona

Employment Discrimination:

The Arizona Department of Administration, Human Resources Division has made a change to their Employment Discrimination notice. The update includes new formatting, a new color scheme and removed images. The poster revision date is July 23, 2018.

California

EDD - Unemployment Insurance, Disability Insurance, Paid Family Leave:

The California Employment Development Department has updated their EDD notice. The updated notice reflects a change to the online application platform, as well as formatting changes. The department recommends maintaining updated information, however, this update will not be mandatory until January 1, 2019. The poster revision date is August 8, 2018.


Unemployment Insurance Benefits:

The California Employment Development Department has updated their Unemployment Insurance Benefits notice. The updated notice reflects wording and formatting changes, as well as a transition to the UI online application platform. The poster revision date is August 8, 2018.


Workplace Discrimination:

The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing has updated their Workplace Discrimination and Harassment notice. The updated notice reflects a change to verbiage regarding applicants. The poster revision date is August 8, 2018.

Louisiana

Earned Income Credit:

The Louisiana Workforce Commission has made a change to their Earned Income Credit notice. The notice has been updated with a new adjusted gross income. The poster revision date is July 5, 2018.

Earned Income Credit:

The Louisiana Workforce Commission has made a change to their Earned Income Credit notice. The notice has been updated with a new adjusted earned income tax credit. The poster revision date is August 6, 2018.

Maine

Employment Security Law:

The Maine Department of Labor has updated their Employment Security Law notice. The updated notice includes a new address for the Maine Department of Labor, Bureau of Unemployment Compensation. The poster revision date July 31, 2018.

Maryland

Minimum Wage:

The Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation has released their updated Minimum Wage notice. The update highlights local minimum wage changes within the state. The poster revision date is July 9, 2018.

Michigan

Unemployment Compensation:

The Michigan Unemployment Agency has made a change to their Unemployment Insurance notice. The notice was updated with information about an automated system that employees can use to inquire about their unemployment compensation claims. They also added another Director's name on the notice. The poster revision date is July 17, 2018.

Nevada

Rules to be Observed by Employers:

The Nevada State Labor Commissioner has updated the Rules to be Observed by Employers notice. The change reflects an additional exemption for domestic workers and defines the classification. The poster revision date is August 22, 2018.

New Mexico

Workers' Compensation:

The New Mexico Workers' Compensation Administration has updated their Workers' Compensation notice. The updated notice reflects new contact numbers and a new website. The poster revision date is July 31, 2018.

Oklahoma

Discrimination in Employment:

The Oklahoma Office of Civil Rights Enforcement, a unit of the Attorney General's Office, has updated their Discrimination notice. The updated notice reflects formatting changes as well as new contact information for the agency. The poster revision date is August 17, 2018.

Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico Employee Rights:

The Puerto Rico Department of Labor and Human Resources has released an Employee Rights notice. The notice summarizes employee rights related to pay, breaks, child labor, exempt employees, and Christmas bonus. The notice is required effective July 15, 2018.

Puerto Rico Disability Insurance:

The Puerto Rico Department of Labor and Human Resources has released a Disability Insurance notice, or SINOT. The notice establishes a government-administered benefit program for disabled employees as a result of non-occupational illness or accidents. The notice is required effective July 15, 2018.

Puerto Rico Social Security Number Law:

The Puerto Rico Department of Labor and Human Resources has released a Social Security Number Law notice. The notice protects the employee's privacy on identification badges or documents that are generally circulated. The notice is required effective July 15, 2018.

Rhode Island

Sick and Safe Leave:

The Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training, Workforce Regulation and Safety Division has updated their Sick and Safe Leave notice. The updated notice states that certain employers are required to provide employees sick and safe leave time if they are too sick to work, are injured or have a routine medical appointment. The update also states that employees may use sick and safe leave to deal with the impact of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking. Lastly, the update states that employees may use sick and safe leave to assist a family member or a member of their household for the same purposes. The poster revision date is July 26, 2018.

South Carolina

Employment Discrimination:

The South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation has updated their Employment Discrimination notice. The notice reflects a new protected category. The new law prohibits employers from discriminating against employees with medical needs arising from pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. Lastly, the updated notice includes a revised color scheme. The poster revision date is August 1, 2018.

Safety and Health Protection on the Job:

The South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation has updated their Safety and Health Protection on the Job notice. The update reflects employers reporting requirements. The poster revision date is July 9, 2018.

Texas

Workers' Compensation Ombudsman Program

The Texas Office of Injured Employee Counsel has released a new Workers' Compensation Ombudsman Program notice. Texas employers with Workers’ Compensation Insurance must post the new Ombudsman Program notice and it must meet size requirements. The notice reflects the removal of some regulatory text and added social media contact information. The poster revision date is August 7, 2018.

Virginia

Job Safety and Health Protection:

The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry has updated their Job Safety and Health Protection notice. The notice reflects increased penalty amounts. The poster revision date is August 24, 2018.

Vermont

Employment Protections for Victims of Crime:

The Vermont Protections for Victims of Crime notice has been published by the Vermont Human Rights Commission. This newly released law adds crime victims to the list of protected classes in Vermont's Fair Employment Practices Act. The new law also requires employers to provide employees with unpaid leave to attend legal proceedings if they are the victim of a crime. The poster revision date is July 6, 2018.
